Violet F. Tietjens, 1922-2003, Stover

Violet Fern Tietjens, 81, of Stover, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.

She was born May 23, 1922, in Brunswick, a daughter of William and Margaret Utterbach Hazlett. On Dec. 30, 1939, in Carrollton, she was married to Ernest Tietjens, who died April 6, 1993.

Mrs. Tietjens was a beautician for several years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover.

Surviving are a son, Donald R. Tietjens, of Baldwin; a daughter, Vicki Zurmiller, of Stover; a sister, Betty Logston, of Marshall; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Harlan Hazlett and an infant brother; and three sisters, Billie Jean Cook, Dorothy Duckworth and Nadine Jackson.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Cecil Murdock officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stover. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to St. Paul Lutheran School.
